About the event
Nordic Walking is good for all age groups and can be used as a valuable tool in the rehabilitation of running injuries and keep fitness at a high level during injury rehabilitation
Using 90% of the body's skeletal muscles the health benefits of Nordic Walking are endless. It is an ideal tool in weight loss as the use of the upper and lower body burns up to 46% more calories than ordinary walking and helps to tone arms, abdominal muscles, chest, bottom hips and thighs.
Some of the health benefits include:
- Often called Pilates on poles because of postural alignment by using the poles behind the body
- Does not aggravate joint problems as walking is assisted with the use of poles
- The involvement of the arms reduces impact on the lower back, hips and knees and therefore makes walking longer more sustainable for people wit musculoskeletal problems
