Tai Chi for Mental Wellbeing

Tai Chi Qi-Gong Shibashi is a gentle, beautiful and flowing exercise routine that is both enjoyable and deeply relaxing.

As well as being a complete exercise routine it can also be used as a warm up for other types of physical exercises.

It introduces the basic elements of weight shifting, co-ordination of hand and leg movements together with controlled breathing, this supporting balance, relaxation and gentle movement.

All shibashi movement is centred around a face forward position. Diagonal side steps always return to this starting position - so in that sense it is fixed. If you can stretch your arms out to the sides and turn a full circle you have enough space to practice.

The complete shi ba shi pattern takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on how you are feeling.

Suitable for all groups and all ages - you are never to old to start - more so it can help maintain mobility, balance and co-ordination, all aspects that can be lost in older ageing years.

Better to practice every day even for just 15 minutes than to do an hour twice a week. A system for sitted clients will also be available online.

Although we are teaching Tai Chi Shibashi as the standard form. I will be teaching a form more directed at supporting mental wellbeing. Using positive thoughts alongside using the breath and releasing negative thoughts.

With so many causes of mental health illness, this program is to ease the mind. It can not solve the underlining causes. Counselling, medication, resolving issues causing the stress and anxiety are the long term solution  for most people. When suffering from grief, time is the only healing process. This program can be used to support the healing process. In most cases mental illness has a number of causes and its these issues adding up is what pulls you down deeper. Each one making the others feel worst.

TAT Programs are over 12 months. 2020 programs are supporting:
